The Bullet Journal Method: Collector’s set

I think this is, without a doubt, the best gift to give to someone who uses a Bullet Journal this Christmas. If I hadn’t already bought it, I would have certainly asked for it for Christmas.

The book The Bullet Journal Method was released on October 23rd, 2018: as such, there is a good chance that the person you want to offer it to has not bought it yet.

The Collector’s Set includes the book The Bullet Journal Method, by Ryder Carroll, the inventor of the Bullet Journal system. This book explains in detail all there is to know about the Bullet Journal, how to use it to your best advantage and how Mr Carroll came to invent this life-changing system.

Also, the Collector’s Set includes an exclusive edition of the official Bullet Journal notebook: a Leuchtturm1917 called “Stealth Edition”. I posted pictures and my review of this set recently on my blog.

I invite you to read my review of the book The Bullet Journal Method, and its Collector’s Set, here.

A new journal

A brand new journal is a sure thing: eventually, the old faithful notebook will be out of pages, and a new journal will be needed to start the migration.

Try to find out the person-you-want-to-please’s favorite brand of journal. The official Bullet Journal notebook’s brand is a Leuchtturm1917, size A5, with dotted pages: this is the one I use.

But there are a lot of different journal brands out there, perfect for Bullet Journaling. Here are some popular examples:

Even if you don’t know the person’s favorite brand, you can hardly go wrong with these ones here. They are all popular brands for a reason.

The Tombow Dual Brush pens

Brush pens are used for calligraphy and lettering in the Bullet Journal (or any other media). They are often used to create beautifully lettered titles and add some colors to the pages.

The Tombow Dual Brush pens are well known among the Bullet Journal community, and are quite popular, albeit a little expensive. Indeed, giving these brush pens as a gift would certainly be really appreciated, as they could be considered a luxury to some.

There are different packs of these brush pens (and a total of about 200 different colors). Personally, I started by acquiring the primary colors, then the bright palette, and those two are the packs I recommend if you think the person doesn’t have any of these brush pens yet.

A practice book for lettering

Maybe the person you want to give a gift to already has a few brush pens. Or maybe, they have never heard of brush pens and have no idea how to do calligraphy.

In both cases, a practice book for lettering would make a great Christmas present! It would allow them to learn a new skill, and maybe, it would become a new hobby! I’ve seen beautiful creations using lettering and calligraphy and I’m hoping to get there some day. Until then, I practice in my practice book!

Pair it with a pack of Tombow Dual Brush pens mentioned above, and that would simply be an awesome Christmas gift!

Zebra Mildliners

These mildliners are fantastic. I love them and if you follow me on Instagram, you know I use them a lot, pretty much in every single spread I make.

If the person you are buying a gift to is new to Bullet Journaling, she probably doesn’t own these pens. I have never found these mildliners anywhere in stores where I live (in Canada). Therefore, these pens would be an ideal gift, as they are not so easy to find (you can buy them on Amazon, which is where I got mine). Plus, there are quite affordable.

The black felt-tip pens

To write in a Bullet Journal, you need a good black felt-tip pen. A poor-quality pen might end up smudging in your pages, which is something all Bullet Journalists hate.

Ever since I started Bullet Journaling, I tried many different brands of black pens (you can read about it all here). Here are a few brands of pen that I found to be good quality and that don’t smudge so much:

Some black felt-tip pens could be a thoughtful gift since these are supplies that we, Bullet Journalist, go through very quickly. Therefore, we need to replace them quite often when they are out of ink or when the felt-tip is too damaged (ex: flat, frayed).

Coloring pens

If you know that the person you want to offer a gift to is a colorful kind of person, it might be a good idea to offer them coloring pens for their Bullet Journal.

On top of the Zebra Mildliners mentioned earlier, I use Papermate flairs pens to add some color to my pages. They are fine liners, so they are more useful when drawing in smaller or detailed drawings.

A desk organiser

This last gift idea is not specifically intended for Bullet Journalists, but if the person is anything like me, they probably have a lot of supplies for Bullet Journaling, writing or drawing. A desk organiser becomes super useful. Before I got a desk organiser, my desk was a total mess of pens, journals, eraser, mildliners, brush pens, etc. Today, it’s still a mess, but a more organised mess (haha). I now have space to write in my Bullet Journal!

That’s it for my list of the best Christmas gift ideas for the Bullet Journal. I hope these ideas will help you offer the perfect gift to your loved one. It’s always such a pleasure to see the joy in the other’s eyes when they receive your thoughtful gift!
