Welcome to this 3rd edition of the Traveling Bullet Journal: New York!
Indeed, this month of December, I went away on vacation to the beautiful city of New York, and I, of course, had use of my Bullet Journal to help me plan our trip. I had need of my Bullet Journal as much in the planning of the trip to the preparation before the departure.
In this article, I will show you the pages I created in my Bullet Journal to plan and prepare my trip to New York City.
Are you going away on vacation soon? Or are you planning to take a trip in the next few months? This post will give you tips and ways to fully plan out your trip thanks to your Bullet Journal!
Without further ado, here’s the Traveling Bullet Journal, Vol. 3: New York, USA!
The cover page
I got the idea, from the very beginning, to create a cover page with New York’s skyline. I don’t do cover pages very often in my Bullet Journal, and in fact, I’d never done one when planning a trip, but I happened to be inspired, so I tried.
It’s not the most useful page, except for separating the travel planning pages to the other pages of the Bullet Journal. I don’t recommend doing a cover picture when you want to plan your trip quickly and efficiently. However, if you have time and you are inspired, then I say go for it!
The list of things to do
My first planning page for this trip includes two different lists: a list of things to figure out for the trip and a list of things to do and places to visit in New York City.
In the first list, there are tasks such as “hotel” and “ground transportation”, since those are two things I need to think about in the early stages of planning our trip. There is also a “budget” task, because I need to figure out our budget in order to make correct choices when making reservations.
Meanwhile, the second list are ideas of things to do and places to visit while in New York. This list was to help me figure out our itinerary once over there, which ended up being useless.
In the end, we decided to go to New York with an organised bus tour. Which is why my list of places to visit ended up being a bit useless, since in an organised tour, it is already set what you will visit, except for some free time. But the list did help me decide the company I wanted to go with: the one whose itinerary included most or all the places I wanted to visit.
Once we bought our tickets for the trip, I decided to write down the itinerary given to us on the website of the company in my Bullet Journal. It ended up being a little off, since due to unscheduled events, such as bad weather, some activities were moved around, but we did do all the activities that were announced.
The packing list
The famous packing list! Every trip planning needs one!
For this trip, I decided to make two lists: one for my suitcase and one for my boyfriend’s suitcase, since, in some cases, we were each bringing something important the other wasn’t. That way, I could keep track of what was packed where.
Since I travel often enough, I already have some pouches ready with essentials, such as band-aids, pills for pain or headaches, toothpaste, etc. so I didn’t have to prep these pouches. I really suggest having those ready if you like to travel often too.
The travel journal
This last part is a bit of a review of the trip, of what was done every day during our trip. I say a review, but sadly, I managed to sit and write in my journal only on the first night, the other following nights, I was way too exhausted after my very filled days to take some time to journal. I wrote down everything the day following my return home, so it was still fresh in my memory.
Thus, I wrote down everything we did every day, as well as little personal notes that I wanted to remember, such as the restaurants where we ate, etc.
Very minimalist style, but I really wanted to remember everything later on, so these pages are the most important for me.
That’s it for the 3rd edition of the Traveling Bullet Journal: New York!
I hope these pages will inspire you in your planning of your future trips, may they be soon or in a few months time!
What did I think of New York? I simply loved it. Yes, we went there in December, so it rained and Central Park wasn’t so green, but the city was all decorated for Christmas and it was splendid! I recommend it to everyone, especially if you’ve never been (it was my first time!). There was a lot of tourists, however, but I hear that’s what you get when you visit New York.
Have you ever been to New York? Did you like it there? What did you like most of your trip there? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time!
