Propulsive and addictive, and perfect for fans of “You,” The Other Mrs. is the twisty new psychological thriller from Mary Kubica, the New York Times bestselling author of The Good Girl
She tried to run, but she can’t escape the other Mrs.
Sadie and Will Foust have only just moved their family from bustling Chicago to small-town Maine when their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home. The murder rocks their tiny coastal island, but no one is more shaken than Sadie.
But it’s not just Morgan’s death that has Sadie on edge. And as the eyes of suspicion turn toward the new family in town, Sadie is drawn deeper into the mystery of what really happened that dark and deadly night. But Sadie must be careful, for the more she discovers about Mrs. Baines, the more she begins to realize just how much she has to lose if the truth ever comes to light.
Why did I choose to read The Other Mrs?
I chose to read The Other Mrs. because I’m a big fan of Mrs. Kubica’s novels. I’ve read nearly all her books and I’ve even reviewed another of her books right here on this blog. I reviewed When the Lights Go Out in 2018 (click here to check out the review).
I was very excited when I saw that a new book from Mary Kubica was being released in early 2020 (I found out in the fall of 2019). I immediately requested it on NetGalley and the editors approved me for the ARC in exchange for a review. So, keep reading for my review of The Other Mrs!
What did I think of The Other Mrs?
The Other Mrs. is another suspense masterpiece from the queen of domestic thrillers herself!
Mary Kubica knows how to set the tone and this one’s tone was creepy from beginning to end. The Other Mrs. is set on an island off the coast of Maine in an eery house with a tragic history. On top of this, the family has barely just moved in when one of their neighbors is murdered. Sadie Foust is terrified: could the murderer still be on the island? Worst, could he be living inside her own house?
Mary Kubica is one of my favorite authors, and it’s not hard to see why when you read The Other Mrs. The twists are deep, and though I had some suspicions, I didn’t see the BIG reveal coming at all. The ending was particularly fast-paced and it was twist after twist.
I really enjoyed the array of characters and the different narrators. The only reason I don’t give The Other Mrs. five stars is because I found the Imogen storyline to be a bit too much sometimes. I had a hard time believing a teenager could be so scary and out of control.
I was super excited to read this book and I wasn’t disappointed! The Other Mrs. is a must-read for fans of domestic thrillers and psychological suspense novels. And if you enjoyed this one, be sure to check out Mrs. Kubica’s other novels, which are just as good.
